Carbono Rural Argentina – promoting sustainable management and restoration of grasslands

This is a highly scalable program that supports sustainable grazing practices across Northeastern Argentina (NEA). The project will help to accelerate the transition to more sustainable grazing practices in Argentina – restoring native grasslands and enhancing biodiversity.

As a result of these activities, Northeastern Argentina will benefit from improved productivity through the implementation of  sustainable grazing systems, while enhancing the quality of the soil through organic carbon sequestration.

On the ground impact

By design, Carbono Rural Argentina enhances the sustainable productivity of pasture, which in turn increases the ability to sequester carbon in the soil. These impactful on the ground activities are delivering the following sustainable benefits across the cattle ranching sector and beyond:

  • Increase the organic carbon in the soil through improved cattle grazing management
  • Improve soil quality
  • Reduce potential expansion of cattle ranching area
  • Additional income generation for local communities
  • Climate resilient farmlands
