Job Summary

The Nursery Supervisor will support the development and growth of one of EcoSecurities most high-profile global projects: the Indigenous Peoples Forest Restoration Project in the Province of Bukidnon Province in the Philippines. The project aims to restore up to 27,000 hectares of ancestral domain lands owned by Indigenous Peoples, restore the habitats of Philippine Eagle, and provide opportunities to Indigenous Communities.

This is a senior-level role to be based in Bukidnon, reporting to the role of Project Manager.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in sourcing, growing, and securing healthy seedlings to meet yearly planting targets. Working with partners and project staff to ensure all activities in the Project’s main and community or satellite nurseries are conducted in an effective, inclusive and timely manner. The following are the key activities:
Nursery Propagation & Operations
- Oversee the full lifecycle of seedling production—from germination to outplanting readiness—ensuring high survival and vigour across all species.
- Design and oversee construction of nursery layout to optimize space, workflow efficiency, and plant health.
- Oversee the maintenance and functionality of nursery infrastructure, including facilities, irrigation systems, tools, and equipment critical to daily operations.
- Supervise daily activities, including sowing, transplanting, watering, fertilization, hardening, pest/disease control, and other nursery operations.
- Maintain inventory and track growth, survival, and readiness for outplanting.
- Maintain health and safety standards across nursery operations and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Seed Collection & Management
- Identify suitable seed sources and coordinate timely collection aligned with phenological calendars. Geotag and record position of all seed trees.
- Record seed data (species, location, collection date, viability) and manage storage and pre-treatment to ensure germination success.
Wildling Collection & Management
- Oversee sustainable collection of wildlings from designated forest sites, minimizing ecological impact. Geotag and record position of all mother trees.
- Track source data and monitor wildling survival and adaptation post-transplant in the nursery or in the field.
External Seedling Procurement
- Source seedlings from vetted suppliers; inspect, sort, and grade according to species, size, and health standards.
- Maintain traceability and integrate procured seedlings into nursery operations.
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of seed, wildling, and seedling production.
- Report on survival rates, growth performance, losses, and distribution to planting sites.
Project Coordination

- Collaborate with field teams and partners to meet production targets and support planting schedules.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by documenting lessons learned and operational insights.
Candidate Profile
- Highly collaborative and eager to work across teams (located across geographies) to achieve the best results.
- Self-starter, able to work independently, and willing to work and grow in an entrepreneurial environment with a reputable brand within the global carbon markets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders with diverse backgrounds.
- Professional demeanor, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality when required.
- Able and eager to work mobile and remotely from time to time to monitor the project implementation
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Biology, Environmental science, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience in nursery management, both at community and commercial levels.
- Expertise and knowledge in propagation of Philippines tropical trees species
- Strong skills in operational planning, budgeting, logistics, and workforce supervision.
- Fluency (written and verbal) in local or regional language in Bukidnon Province.
- Fluency (written and verbal) in English.
- Ability to network and engage current and new stakeholders, partners, and Indigenous communities.
- Flexibility to travel across multiple sites in Bukidnon Province.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and other relevant software applications
Desirable
- Licensed forester.
- Certified Pollution Control Officer and/or Certified Safety Officer
- Local knowledge of stakeholders, as well as cultural, ecological, and forest management in Bukidnon Province of the Philippines.
- Carbon markets and carbon project development
Experience
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in nursery management, plant propagation, natural resource management, or forest conservation, with a least 2-3 years managing nursery staff and contractors
