Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity to lead the operational and logistical aspects of a large-scale, nature-based reforestation project in the Philippines. The Operations Manager will be responsible for the efficient and effective coordination of project activities, ensuring that operational, financial, and human resources are managed to meet project goals and timelines. The role requires a candidate with proven coordination and implementation skills, background in finance and team management, and a strong demonstrated expertise in project management. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently and collaborate with diverse teams to achieve project success.

This role is initially a 6 month contract position with the potential to be made permanent.

Main Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and reports. Monitor project progress against key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the main point of contact for local partners, community leaders, and government agencies and ensuring relationships are managed with the highest level of integrity.
  • Project Start-up & Planning: Lead the initial phase of the project, including securing necessary permits, establishing local offices, and setting up foundational logistical and administrative systems to ensure a smooth and successful launch.
  • Operational Management: Oversee on-the-ground operational aspects of the reforestation project, including planning, logistics, and resource allocation to ensure timely and effective implementation.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage project budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure financial reports are accurate and submitted on time. This includes handling local procurement processes and vendor relationships.
  • Human Resources: Lead the recruitment, training, and management of local project staff, ensuring compliance with local labour laws and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit regular operational and financial reports to senior management and funding partners, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Candidate Profile

  • Self-starter, able to work independently in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Strong interest, enthusiasm, and willingness to work and grow in an entrepreneurial environment with a reputable brand within the global carbon markets.
  • Highly collaborative approach to working across teams (located across geographies) to achieve the best results.
  • Experience in a developing country context, preferably within Southeast Asia.
  • Fluent in English and Filipino

Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance, Engineer, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a senior operational or project management role, with a focus on large-scale, on-the-ground projects.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in project management, operations, or a related field.
  • Exceptional operational and logistical planning skills, demonstrated through management of large, complex on-ground projects
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to use project management software and tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management, including budget oversight and reporting.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading a team, including HR functions like recruitment and training.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with nature-based solutions, reforestation, or carbon credit projects
