EcoSecurities is providing technical support in the development of an E-Mobility Carbon Credit Program in Rwanda, in partnership with the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD) PLC. The initiative is being developed under the Verified Carbon Standard (Verra) and aims to support the operationalisation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
The project aims to generate high-integrity carbon credits through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by promoting electric mobility solutions.
The initiative seeks to accelerate Rwanda’s green transition by promoting the adoption of electric motorcycles and the expansion of charging infrastructure, while generating carbon credits that can help unlock long-term climate finance aligned with Rwanda’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and national climate priorities.
Stakeholders who are directly affected by the project are invited to participate in this Local Stakeholder Consultation process, held at the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD) Offices in Kigali. Below you can find a description of the program including information on the introduction to climate change and carbon markets, project activities, objectives, scale, duration, implementation plan, economic, social and environmental impacts, and contributions to sustainable development objectives.
