Panambi APD Program – reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation
The Panambi APD Program focuses on avoiding planned deforestation in the Chaco region of Paraguay, one of the world’s most biodiverse and ecologically valuable ecosystems. The program addresses the imminent threats to forests posed by agricultural expansion and land-use change.
Through its first stage, the program will protect 140,000 hectares of forest, generating an estimated 1 million tCO2 of emissions reductions annually. With a 30-year crediting period, the initiative is designed for scalability, with the potential to expand protection efforts in the coming years.
The Panambi APD Program exemplifies how REDD+ projects can deliver large-scale environmental and social benefits while addressing climate change. Through its scalable design and robust partnerships, it represents a key step toward sustainable forest management and emissions reductions in the Paraguayan Chaco.
